In 2013, I was blessed with the incredible opportunity to participate in a mission trip to Fiji through MVA as a Year 11 student at Lighthouse Christian College. Missions has always been an integral part of the spiritual culture at Lighthouse, and I remember how excited I was even years prior to the trip to attend and to serve. That trip was truly a life changing experience for me – it deeply shaped my faith and understanding of God’s calling on my life. That trip also ignited a passion in me not only to serve in ministry but also a heart for missions. The trip opened my eyes to the impact of sharing God’s love with others, and it forever transformed my heart.
As I graduated and stepped into new seasons of study and work, I continued to carry the desire to serve in missions. Little did I expect that, years later, I would not only have the chance to serve in missions again – but to do so with the very school that helped ignite my journey of faith.
Today, I am so blessed to have the privilege of staffing the Year 11 missions trip with MVA at Lighthouse Christian College – on the same life-changing journey I took as a student. Following a pause in overseas missions due to COVID, Lighthouse has reignited its mission program, sending students to Thailand with MVA, the first trip being in November 2024.
Being a part of these students’ spiritual journeys is an incredible blessing. To witness their growth as they step out in faith, serving others and experiencing God’s love in a new way, is something I cherish deeply. I look forward to all that God has in store for us in this new chapter.
I am grateful that not only did God fulfill the desires of my heart to serve in missions, but He has done so far beyond my expectations, leading me to this place of joy and purpose. His plans are always greater than we can imagine!
