Vanuatu at a Glance

Vanuatu is a nation of 83 islands. The population of Vanuatu is approximately 250,000 with the capitol Port Vila, located on the island Efate. Vanuatu is ranked the third poorest country in the Pacific. There is evidence of increasing poverty in Vanuatu, with decreasing opportunity to access essential services. Squatter settlements continue to increase in urban areas. Sixty per cent of the population is under 25. Its challenges are growing, with limited employment opportunities and an increase in crime, domestic violence and substance abuse

Working on Efate, Pele, Nguna Islands 

Vision 

• To facilitate mission teams, conferences, and specialist
personnel to help churches train and equip young men
and women to be godly empowering leaders
• To bring in resources and personnel to undertake strategic
projects meeting specific needs of churches, schools and
communities
• To train and send out short term Ni Vanuatu mission teams
and personnel to the villages, towns and islands of Vanuatu

Strategy 

  • To supply and deliver basic school and medical resources to the Blacksands slum community (located on the outskirts of Port Vila) and to communities on Pele and Nguna Islands
  • To provide for the construction of a new toilet block for the Women’s shelter on Nguna Island
  • Provision of a first aid centre for the  Nguna Island community
  • Construction of school classrooms to be used as a kindergarten and junior school facility at the northern end of Blacksands.
  • To bring to completion the church building at Blacksands and commence development of the land and construction of History Makers Church in Port Vila
  • To build supportive relationships between Australia churches and schools and the people of Vanuatu
